The students at Sierra Norwood did VBS in the morning, and painted and cleaned in the afternoon. It was really fun, and the team gained a new respect for the workers of His House. We divided the kids from His House, and half went to the beach while the other half was went to the pool and played at His House.Īt the beach, each Chi Alpha member was responsible for one or two kids. Later, we left His House for an awesome field trip to the beach. We did worship, crafts, recreation and music. Today we woke up and headed to His House. I can’t wait for the next two days we have with His House! Please pray that the kids listen well, our team has energy, and that God works through us! At the end of our stay, we all finished with a couple more songs and headed back to the hotel to change and head out for our evening activities. It was awesome to see the kids doing the motions and singing along with big smiles! For the rest of the day the kids all experienced Bible stories, crafts, lunch, music time, and recreation. When the kids all came in we started off with a worship rally, sang songs, and danced. For example, yellow was the preschool, which was precious yet crazy at times! Each of us were divided into different color groups, which resembled the ages. We all went into a big room with a stage where we held various stations for the kids to attend. Today, we were all still tired from the seventeen hour bus ride to Miami, but we were still excited to take on Day One of our mission trip! We arrived to His House, completed orientation (where they surprised us with Dunkin Donuts and coffee!), and we began working with the kids. I am looking forward to how God is going to move throughout our group and the church tomorrow! ![]() We ate awesome food at “Mambos,” then headed back to the hotel for our wrap-up meetings where we shared our highlight from the day and asked for prayer over one things we want to get out of the week. In the evening, the team went out on an adventure at Bayside. One humorous second grader later talked to some of our students and explained how Rebecca was Jacob’s mom, and Sarah his grandmother, she asked Rebecca why she let Jacob take ESAU’s blessing! ![]() It was great to see how God opened doors through VBS even on the first day. During VBS, the children were taught to face fears and trust God. The day began with VBS and went into a “block party” type of recreation. The Jamaicans at Parkway Baptist Church were ecstatic to see us. I sat by a young girl, made eye contact with her, and immediately she awed over my blonde hair. They day began by walking into a room at Parkway Baptist Church filled with shining, smiling faces. ![]()
